DIY Milk Bath

I love baths, always have. As a kid I loved getting princess themed bubbles, and as a teen I'd always load up at Bath and Body Works. Now, despite that fact that my tub is not full size (thanks NYC bathroom...), I still take baths to relax and rejuvenate. This week however, I've unfortunately been taking them because I'm feeling a bit under the weather.

I think the stress of moving across the country next week is finally catching up to me.

I also had a very social weekend as I'm working to fit in last minute catch-ups with friends (fun "problem" to have, but not great in the sleep department). The other reality making my life a tad more annoying right now is that because I'm moving across the country, I'm attempting to take a little with me as possible. That means not replacing spices when they run out, or getting new fun bath stuff to use (I know, my life is really hard). But for reals, my apartment is full of extra boxes, and I don't have the all the of food and personal care items I'm used to.

I realize this makes me sound like a total diva (and maybe I am), but I think it's all contributed to my current sick state. 

So that brings me to this post. In lieu of my usual bubbles or bath salts, I had to get creative around bath-time. Luckily, I'm also still working on cleaning out the last few random food items in my pantry, which led me to a lonely can of coconut cream. I definitely bought it by accident... it was supposed to be coconut milk, but I must have been zoned out that day at the store. I could have used it in my coffee, or to make some sort of whipped cream, but instead I used it to take a milk and honey bath that ended up being just what the doctor ordered. 

It's important to treat pamper yourself occasionally, and this is a cheap way to do so!

I'd recommend adding candles and leaving your phone far, far away! (or in my case light 15 tea lights that you found hiding in the back of a kitchen drawer!) Your skin will feel silky and smooth, and it's the perfect way to de-stress from the day (trust me, I'm pretty stressed at the moment so have tested this thoroughly). 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 can coconut cream (or milk), or you can use whole milk
  • 2 tbsp honey

Directions:

  1. Warm the coconut cream/milk and honey (I used a pot on the stove because my microwave broke last week... awesome timing, but don't bring to a boil, just warm it)
  2. Pour into hot bath and stir
  3. Soak and relax!

Because of the coconut cream, you may feel a little "greasy" (and it will certainly make your shower slippery, so rinse the tub after you are done!). You can either rinse off, or I recommend doing this bath at night. Simply pat down with a towel after you are done soaking, then put on some loose pants and a shirt and go to bed! In the morning you will have super soft (but non-greasy feeling) skin!
